Beat them steve is a beat em up game where you play as a minecraft cow and beating up steve. Why this exists? well due to a bug in the code, cow are now a aggressive mob and can attack steve.  So you will have to venture through the level and beat up all the steve you can find. Utilizing your combo system and block, it shall allow you to have a smoother way to deliver the beef to the steve. 

I have learned quite a bit while working on Beat Them Steve. One of the main things is the coding. This game is coded on stencyl and while it is block programming, finding the right combination and making them work was a pain. There are times where it was easy, then there are times where i have to use 3 to 4 variables to make one mechanic work. It was a pain but managed to work it out. Then as i work it out, it was rewarding as to see your work actually working.

The animation was also another issue, sometimes it bugs out and sometimes it just cuts out the image. So i have to individually crop out each image. So it was a hassle but managed to work it out. But i imagine what if the animation was longer, would i even add it in?

Lastly was the game design itself, because of it's simplicity theme, i have too not go overboard. So how to i make the game feel like a beat em up. One of it was a combo system, so by completing the combo, players will deal more damage. So it gives player a new strength that they want to complete the combo but at the same time, it would be a risk as player have a higher chance of getting hit by the enemy. Then you have the camera shake, having that just makes the attack feels a lot more impactful. So at the end of the project, i realize how the most tiny detail can add so much feel and give a better player experience to the player.
